The Centre for Nanomaterials (CNM) was established in 2008 to focus on the emerging areas of nanomaterials research. A large number of faculties and students
across the departments of National Institute Technology, Rourkela, are involved to perform high-impact interdisciplinary research on nanoscience and technology in this centre since its inception.
The main research focus of the Centre includes Environmental nanotechnology, Catalysis, Sensors, Nanobiotechnology, Nano-medicine, Nanomaterials for Energy applications, Synthesis
and characterization of functional nanomaterials.
Objectives of CNM
- To facilitate cutting edge research in various fields of Nanoscience & Technology.
- To improve fundamental understanding of matter that enables control and manipulation at the nanoscale to develop new advanced materials.
- To promote applications leading to development of products and devices.
- Conducting periodic outreach programmes to disseminate knowledge on nanoscience and nanotechnology to the scientific community.
- To promote international and national collaborations and joint research projects.
