Short Bio
Pravat Kumar Ray received the B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology Sarang, Odisha, in 2000, the M.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, Howrah, in 2003, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, Rourkela, in 2011. He had worked as a postdoctoral fellow from Jan. 2016 to June 2017 at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore. He is currently serving as Professor, Electrical Engineering in NIT Rourkela. He has around 20 year of experience in teaching and research. He has supervised 10 PhD students. He has published his research outcomes in more than 70 research papers in reputed journals including IEEE Transactions, IET and Elsevier etc. He has edited 2 books, contributed 13 book chapters and more than 90 conference papers. He is involved in research project work sponsored by funding agencies such as DST, DST-UKIERI, IMPRINT-II, SERB, Indo-ASEAN and Indo-Thailand etc. He has visited 06 foreign universities which includes Queen Mary Univ. of London, UK, Univ. of Southampton, Malaysia, University of Mataram, Indonesia, Walailak University, Thailand etc. as a part of bilateral collaborative research. He has delivered 27 invited talks including at foreign and Indian universities. He has organized 9 short term courses and faculty development programmes. He has organized 08 conferences/special sessions/panel discussions etc. He is working as Associate Editor, IEEE CSEE Journal of Power and Energy System and as Guest Editor of a special issue entitled “Advances in Control of Photovoltaic and Microgrid Systems”, Journal: Energies, Publisher: MDPI. His research interests include Estimation & Filtering in Power System, Power Quality, Power Management in Hybrid AC/DC Micro-grids, Smart Grid, Solar irradiance forecasting and Renewable Integration.
